This collection of reference material cannot replace the grey 1961 edition of
Der Große Duden, Band 1 on my shelf, but it helps. Perhaps you
discover some interesting material.
Encyclopedias and Dictionaries
- The Oxford English
Dictionary. In case you never heard of syzygies... The explanation
of the more familiar word algebra reads "The department of mathematics
which investigates the relations and properties of numbers by means of general
symbols; and, in a more abstract sense, a calculus of symbols combining
according to certain defined laws." Wow!
- LEO English/German
Dictionary. Very useful indeed.
-
English/Italian Dictionary. Have fun!
- Encyclopedia presented by the
Electric Library. Alternatively you can try Wikipedia. They help
me remember who the Argonauts were.
Mathematical Computation
- Pari. A software
package for computer-aided number theory.
-
MAGMA. A computational algebra system.
-
GAP. Groups, Algorithms and Programming.
- Singular. A
computer algebra system for polynomial computations.
