The Department has long-standing research and teaching interests in politics and public administration, reflected in the active and continuing part it has played in the development of both the Centre for Political Studies and the MA in the Diploma in Politics of Democracy.
Professor Gavin Drewry has published widely on civil service
reform, on parliamentary and legislative processes (particularly on
judicial review of administration and ombudsmen systems). He is an
Associate Member of the Centre for Ombudsman Studies at the University of
Reading and Deputy Chairman of the Study of Parliament Group.
Dr Michael Saward has an established international
reputation through his substantial publications in the areas of democratic
theory and "green politics". He is the local representative of
the European Consortium for Political Research, to which the College is
affiliated.
Dr Ralph Schroeder has a research interest in post-communist
societies.
