MSc Social Work together with the Diploma in Social Work (Dip.SW)

Qualification

This two year full-time course prepares students for a professional career in the statutory or voluntary social services. The Diploma in Social Work is the professional qualification awarded by the UK’s Central Council for Education and Training in Social Work (CCETSW). Both the MSc and the Diploma awards are based upon a close partnership with the Social Services departments of the City of Westminster, Surrey, the Royal Borough of Kingston and the Princess Alice Hospice, Esher. Members of staff of these departments are represented on course management boards and provide some teaching and the majority of our practical work placements.

Entry Requirements

Applications are initially dealt with by the:

Social Work Admissions System (SWAS),
Fulton House, Jessop Avenue
Cheltenham, Glos., UK
and forwarded to the College.

We require the following: a first or upper second degree from a recognised UK or foreign university; at least six months social work experience at the time of application; two satisfactory references - one academic, and one from a previous employer; a satisfactory interview with an academic member of staff and a practice teacher. We are willing to consider mature applicants with other professional qualifications, or other qualifications if they have extensive social work experience and can demonstrate their ability to study at higher degree level.
