COURSE OUTLINE FOR 2012-13

LECTURE 1

Hello everybody. As promised today (Wednesday, October 3) I am posting the materials for next week's lecture and seminar. Here is the lecture:

Lecture 2

I will spend a little bit of time at the beginning of the lecture finishing off lecture 1 which I didn't quite manage this week because of the late start.

Note that a version of these questions turned up on last year's final exam so it is well worth your time to ponder these questions carefully. But don't panic if you can't answer them before the seminar. We'll be thinking them through together.
