COUPLES WANTED: WIN CASH PRIZES

Over the next few weeks the Economics department is running some experiments to help us understand how couples make decisions. We are looking to recruit established couples to take part in lunchtime or after work experiments. These should last no longer than an hour. Typical earnings will be around £20 per person with the chance to earn over £40 each.

All we ask is that couples

  • are over 21
  • have been together for more than 1 year
  • are living together on a permanent basis as a couple

If you know any couples who fit the requirements, please encourage them to get in contact. For more information and session times, please contact:

Further details.

  • The experiment lasts about an hour and involves making a series of choices.
  • Everything will take place in the Economics Experimental Lab (next to the Careers centre on the ground floor of the Horton Building).
  • The prizes you and your partner may win will depend on your choices and on chance.
  • There’s no deception involved and this is not a test of skill.
  • Typically earnings will be around £20 per person, but they could be as high as £45 per person.
  • We do want only established couples - meaning that you should have been together for at least a year and that you live together. It would be helpful if you have some proof of this.
  • It doesn’t matter if you are both at Royal Holloway or not. In fact if you have friends from outside the college who fit the bill and are available we’d love to hear from them.
  • For the lunchtime sessions you are welcome to bring your sandwiches and eat as you experiment.
  • Please also bring a pen each.
  • Currently planned sessions:
    • 17th April – 1.00
    • 18th April - 12.00
    • 24th April -1.00
    • 25th April - 12.00
  • Can’t make these times? We’ll have more later  in April and in May.
